"Alright children, today I'm going to tell you the story of how I got shot and almost lynched for Civil Rights," the grandfather started.
"Don't you have any happy stories," the youngest asked.
"Yeah, stories with happy endings," the oldest followed the lead.
"Do you kids know what Jim Crow is," the grandfather asked in a very serious tone.
"No," they replied in unison.
"Well, there's your happy ending."
