Hidden Damage

She had done a poor job of hiding the damage, her battered face couldn't be hidden beneath the makeup. Her mom would ask questions.

"Did some boy put his hands on you? Have you called the police?"

In reality, she had crashed her car and it slowly rolled into a retaining pond. She made it out alive, but it was a new car. She'd lie, say she was car jacked and the car was taken. Then hope it was never found. It wasn't the first time she had lied to her parents. Then again, maybe it was best to tell the truth this time.
